RM Analyzer Help

Units > Force unit

Selection of the force unit used in the GUI and in output listings.

Note: Internally the program always uses the standard unit Kilonewton [kN].

The desired force unit can be selected from the list of available units. The list contains in principle units derived from SI-units (N, kN, MN, ton) and customary US units (pound, kip). The shown factor defines the ratio to the standard unit [m].

Furthermore the user can input an arbitrary user-defined unit by entering the name and respective factor.

Note: The force unit ton defines the weight force of a mass of 1 ton under standard earth acceleration conditions (gn = 9.80665 m/s2). The definition of mass units is not provided in RmBridge. Mass units are always recalculated from forces with using the earth acceleration defined in the Recalc pad (default value 9.81 m/s2).
